For those with a UniCard or PHCard (that has been unlocked for library access), the UB 1 is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Private users may use the UB 1 during the regular opening hours.
The keys to the coatroom lockers are available Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; they may be obtained from the entrance desk and are checked out with your library card. Those with a UniCard or PHCard can also use their card to check out a cubby in the rear coatroom.
Holdings in the UB 1
- Book collections in the Reading Room (with the exception of LS-Buch and LS-HSS)
- Reading Room periodical collections from the last 20 years (including all issues of the current year of all library periodicals)
- Selection of newspapers in paper and microform
- Open access area for the location codes GE, SW, NA, MD (each including materials acquired since the year 2000), FZ and LB I
- Music recordings
Services in the UB 1
- Information & Service, media loans, and checkout desk, including information about the Reading Room and periodicals (please note the opening hours)
- Loans, holds, and returns of materials requested from the closed stacks or borrowed from the self-service area of the UB 1 (please note the opening hours)
- Direct loans of materials from the self-service area in the UB 1 (please note the opening hours)
- Approximately 250 internet, database, and computer workstations with access to the online catalog
- 744 workstations for reading and studying (including Wi-Fi)
- 430 lockers for three-month use (registration for university students, PH students must register directly at the service desk at the UB 1)
- Competence and Learning Center (KuLZ)
- Around 100 workstations in the cafeteria (under the stage, access through the hall) for group work. The area is Wi-Fi equipped. A purchase from the cafeteria is not necessary in order to use these workstations.
