Postal service for books

During the restrictions in the University Library and in the specialized libraries caused by the Corona pandemic, it is possible for members of the University of Freiburg to get loanable books from our stock by mail.

Please note: If you’re not a member of Freiburg University your order will not be processed.

Books will only be shipped to destinations within Germany. A prerequisite to order is a binding declaration of payment of the shipping fee of 5,30 EUR per parcel.

    This service does NOT include

    • Books that are currently out on loan
    • Books from any campus library
    • Books that are required to stay on the University Library premises (e.g. books that were published before 1920)
    • Books of an unusual size
    • Books and journals from our reading rooms (with the shelf mark ‚LS‘)
    Important notice (procedure, costs, etc.)

The shipping fee per parcel amounts to EUR 5,30. This fee will be charged to your library account. Paying by bank transfer is possible. A prerequisite to order is a binding declaration of payment of the shipping fee.

All ordered books will be booked onto your library account. Regarding return dates, the usual conditions for your account apply; for the duration of our closure no new late fees or overdraft fees will be charged.

Please note that you can only order books for your own personal use. Books can be returned by mail at your own cost and risk or in person after our reopening.
    The size limit of eligible books is 42 x 27 (H x W) cm.

The maximum amount of books in a single parcel is 5, depending on the size and weight of each individual book. To order several books at once, please fill in the form below for each book and add „Sammelbestellung“ in the comments field.

We strive to ship all orders within three workdays (Mo-Fri). Please note that we can’t provide information on any delivery dates.
