Find out more about our extensive range of e-journals. If you are a member of the University of Freiburg, you can access the e-journals from anywhere, otherwise you can access this service from our public computers in the University Library.
The Electronic Journals Library (EZB) is a national directory of journals available online. Most works are uploaded in full-text format. The traffic-light system indicates which texts are available in full.
You can search our Katalog plus catalogue using suitable keywords and subject headings. Once the search is complete, you can narrow your results down to the “Magazines/journals/serials” media type. You can also narrow the hits down to electronic resources to display all e-journals. Once you have found an e-journal, you can gain direct access to the full text via the link in the “Holdings info” tab.
You can perform a national search for journals, newspapers and serials in various formats (e.g. print or electronic) in the German Union Catalogue of Serials (ZDB). You can see which libraries hold which journals published in which years, and you can search the ownership stamps by year.
The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) lists specialist journals that have been published online in full under the principles of open access and can be accessed free of charge. Unlike the ZDB and EZB, most of the journals in the directory can be searched at article level in the DOAJ.
You will find e-journals with a university licence in Katalog plus. These licences are purchased by the University Library. The catalogue also contains e-journals with DFG national licences as well as licence-free resources.
There are four ways to access this service.
