Konsortium Baden-Württemberg was founded in 1999 as the buying syndicate for Baden-Württemberg’s 54 state-owned university, higher education institution and state libraries. It is one of the largest regional consortia in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Konsortium Baden-Württemberg jointly acquires databases, e-journals and e-books for the cost-efficient supply of literature to its members.
The Chair and Managing Director of the consortium are based at the University Library Freiburg. The consortium’s office, which was set up in 2014, centrally coordinates the consortium’s licences for its members. It also advises its members on acquiring new licences for the consortium.
